Thousands of women marched in the streets of Mexico City on Tuesday, International Women's Day, calling for justice as femicide and gender violence continue to plague the country.
They marched demanding respect, equity and justice for all women, chanting "Women are killed in the face of the people" and "They took them alive, we want them back alive."
While the march was not without its violent incidents, the demonstration dubbed 8M in commemoration of the significance of March 8 brought together thousands of women of all ages who marched the streets of Mexico City peacefully.
One of the first collectives to demonstrate in the capital's Zócalo square was the National Union of Agricultural Workers, about 500 women who demanded justice and equality for women from President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.
