Cuban Media Decry US Manipulation of Migratory Issue

Havana, Jan 12 (Prensa Latina) The US government continues manipulating the migratory issue as a political weapon against Cuba, according to a denunciation published today by local media.

According to an article in Granma daily, successive administrations have encouraged illegal emigration through policies including giving "refugee" status to those entering the Unites States illegally.

Manipulation includes the unilateral suspension from mid 2011 of the migratory rounds by the Barack Obama Administration, which had resumed then after being cancelled by Washington in 2004 under George W. Bush, recalls Granma.

It also cites the lack of interest shown so far by the current US administration in a new agreement proposed by Cuba in 2009 with the intention of strengthening bilateral cooperation in fighting illegal emigration and human trafficking.

when 99% were able to travel. The real problem is being able to afford to travel, and getting Visas, the USA will not offer more Visas to meet the demand, it's cat and mouse and pushes people to go illegally.

Then there's the issue of how we're not allowed to travel there freely!

Dream Graduates would take this route. They could request political asylum in Cuba. Cuba would get educated graduates and PR, then if they were not happy in Cuba they could come back to the US Carte Blanche. Like Oswald.

Someone has to make a move and the US won't be the one to do it. Cuba must allow the free flow of travel. Must. Absolutely. Allow it. The US will end Wet Foot, Dry Foot instantly. It is not a one sided issue. 10k a year is a joke. We get 10x that many Mexican immigrants.

Hopefully they're just explaining the temporary influx of Cuban's as the new law comes into effect and basically showing their hand to the USA. The USA will quickly respond once 5-10k Cubans start arriving daily.
