US DEPARTMENT OF LABOR TO MAKE $5M IN FUNDING AVAILABLE TO INCREASE PROTECTION OF WORKERS IN BRAZIL, PARAGUAY’S CATTLE-RAISING AREAS

WASHINGTON – The U.S. Department of Labor today announced availability of up to $5 million in grant funding to support efforts to address abusive labor practices, particularly in cattle-raising areas of Brazil and Paraguay.

Administered by the Bureau of International Labor Affairs, this opportunity will fund a project to strengthen the capacity of worker and civil society organizations to identify labor violations and advocate on behalf of workers in Brazil and Paraguay’s cattle-raising areas, increase these organizations’ capacity to provide services that address labor violations for workers and their families, and promote greater engagement by these organizations with private sector stakeholders to advocate for better work conditions.
