Currently watching the repeat on CSPAN 2. As with the first hearing, it seems like an endless procession of incredibly articulate and principled statements on the benefits for our country of our joining the Law of the Sea convention and then ridiculous utterance after ridiculous utterance from Inhofe. When I look at what's out there on the Law of the Sea on Google, I see all the forces of the conservative blogosphere massed behind Inhofe/Rubio and very little attention being paid by the Democrats other than JK's article in HuffPo: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/john-kerry/a-national-security-issue_b_1596414.html

The support for this from the military and the cabinet and (according to JK) the business community is extraordinary -- how can an idiot like Inhofe hold it hostage?

...during the afternoon panel. ..as were some other Republicans. With John Negroponte and Donald Rumsfeld as panelists, the Republicans seemd determined to give them the opportunity to make the old GWB arguments against such a treaty. And with JK chairing, it was really amazing (remembering that he called for Rumsfeld to resign). I'm may atch it again online just to see that part again.

Hi, politicasista! Just wondering if you might want to talk about this on another thread? This thread is about the SFRC Law of the Sea hearings.
