Biden Secretly Meets With Obama Bundler

During New York Swing

The 28 hours Joe Biden spent in New York City at the end of last week were a whirlwind of activity—much of it feeding the mounting speculation that he is inching ever closer to launching a late-starting presidential campaign. Biden stood alongside Attorney General Loretta Lynch and announced an $80 million plan to clear the backlog of rape kits in police departments around the country. He appeared with Governor Andrew Cuomo at a rally with some of the city's most powerful unions to support Cuomo's push to hike the minimum wage. He made his now-famous appearance on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert. He took part in an evening roundtable for the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. And, the next day, he delivered remarks at a 9/11 memorial aboard the Intrepid Museum, at which firefighters, cops, and other first responders chanted, “Run, Joe, run!”

We definitely need more debates. I have mixed feelings about him running, but I'm thinking it would be a good thing, as long as it is really what he wants to do.

if he runs and I believe he has a good chance of winning. As long as it is good for him and his family.

5. Ultimately I support Joe and as Pat says, want him to do what he wants.

My only hesitation is if he took away support from Bernie. Not sure Joe could nab the nom (PAINS me to say that, but LOTS of history and misconception to overcome) but that's a ways in the future, so we'll see how it eventually shakes out.

Man, here we are again.

A lot of strong opposition is coming out of the woodwork, so I think he is considered a very credible threat.

I'm getting Biden Fever all over again. It will be exhausting.

10. Boy, I'm so overwhelmed by the "what-if"s, I can't imagine what Joe is going through.

We know he's got the fire, and NOW we know that Beau did make that deathbed statement (i never believed it before). I think I would just say "oh, fuck it, what do I have to lose" and go for it. If NOT, then I'd probably feel guilty for the rest of my life for not granting my child one of his final wishes (I know Catholics!). I'd be going "I should have run, for Beau" for the rest of my days. If I ran and didn't get the nom I'd say "we tried, Beau".

I'm rambling, but bottom line is I"m not going to stress about it (yeah, right) and whatever makes Joe lay his head down at night feeling he's done the best thing is what I'm happy with.

that Joe does know what he's going to do and a good idea when he's going to announce. He's been acting more and more like a candidate. He is the Vice President, he doesn't have to rush. His position gives him far more media exposure than the others, except for Carnival Barker Trump! I also think he's getting some good advice. Just imagine what the sitting VP has access to, plus I'm sure the support of the President.

support of Hillary in that gushing WTF? interview he had with her after she stepped down from SOS. He OWES his loyalty to Joe after having his for these years, but I'm not holding my breath.

As I read somewhere, Obama doesn't seem to understand how much the Clintons hate him. I know they like Joe, but they'll turn on him, too, if he enters the race.

do what is politically expedient for Hillary, but I think Obama has more heart than that, unless he doesn't believe Joe is a good choice. As for the interview, I don't think anyone was seriously thinking about Joe as a candidate then. I know I wasn't.

POTUS to come out with a personal interview with a former member of his cabinet. I still can't fathom WHY.

At the time I felt it was a slap in the face to Joe. Maybe because although Joe wasn't a candidate, he'd responded "maybe" when asked if he might run again. I felt Obama was pre-emtively closing the door on any support Joe could expect if he did run (we all knew Hillary was going to run).

Maybe I'm over protective of Joe, but I feel as though he's sacrificed an awful lot to be Obama's VP in that he's not able to say what he REALLY thinks about some of the decisions made. He's been fiercely loyal to Obama and to the Office, IMO. Obama has never lauded the degree of praise on Joe that he did in that gushing interview with Hillary.

It's obviously something that really pisses me off.

and now I do remember feeling like Joe was being slighted back then. I think Obama has come to really appreciate Joe though. I would be so disappointed if he didn't show Joe the support he has earned.

17. I'd thought Obama had already come to appreciate Joe -- that was 2013.

Initially he was kind of jerky to Joe, then Joe talked to him and essentially said knock it off (remember that?) and after that it was like they were BFFs. I was STUNNED when he did that interview. I have no idea where he's at now. If Joe does run, I could almost see Obama declining to endorse anyone, even though historically the POTUS endorses his Veep.

Well, I've got to stop getting pissed about it NOW. The interview is long over and we do't even know if Joe is going to make the move, so I can save my rage for later.

when it comes to Joe. It certainly does appear he has.

You're right, no need to get pissed off now. There will be plenty of time for that later on! Don't want to waste that "piss"!

My point was that Obama didn't do the Hillary Love Fest until 4 years into his term. He'd ALREADY evolved regarding Joe -- or so I thought!

I'll shut up. For now.

though I wonder if he was courting Bill's support. I can't remember if that was before the election or after.
