2. It's not something I will die fighting against but yeah, it is annoying

at least in part because it entirely objectifies men (your value is based on your penis, if it's small you are worthless, that is the basis of the insult) and is apparently entirely acceptable on here.

Another part is that it is a blatant double standard: reference the appearance of a woman's vagina as an insult and oh boy you'll get banned so fast on here.

Seriously, it's a humorous euphemism for males suffering from poor feelings of self-worth.

It might be offensive to guys with little dicks; if so, I say let them come forward.

if a fraction of the stuff that gets called misogyny around here actually is, then this is misandry.

....doesn't offend me.....I've never purchased anything abnormally big, so it will never apply to me....I don't think....but it is a sexist comment/insult. There's really no way around that.

7. Not personally offensive,

but it is sexist.

Why should it be assumed that a man owning something of which a poster does not approve means that the man is compensating for something? Is it assumed that women who own such items are compensating for something?

I often see people who own big expensive stupid shit that they don't need as the victims of advertising or of a culture that tells them that when they have that shit they have 'arrived'.

9. Offended, no. Tired of hearing that stupid silly shit, yes.

It might have been funny the first time you hear it, but after that it's just nothing more than a worn out cliche that people use to keep themselves from actually having to think.

It absolutely is sexist and is a classic example of sexism.

If a man claimed that a woman wore makeup or high heels to compensate for a large, loose vagina, it would clearly be offensive and sexist.

12. It's dumb but not really offensive.

It's really, really hard to offend me. If it makes people feel better to say something that dumb then they're welcome to it.

As far as being sexist, yeah it is but I still really don't care. It doesn't apply to me so I just ignore it. No need to complain over something so silly.

yakking on about "-isms".

I vote with the "That's too silly to be offensive" crowd and go along some corollary about the annoyance of walking on eggshells at the mere hint of mentioning anything about women, particularly their appearance or ladyparts, that doesn't pass muster with the harridan contingent lest the accusation of SEXIST, MISOGYNIST PIG be tossed about.

Sometimes a wisecrack is just a wisecrack. Get over it.

14. Yes, but it also is helpful in that it unambiguously identifies the stupid people.

Anyone who explains someone's antisocial acts by "joking" that it's a result of having a small penis is an idiot - if for no other reason than the antisocial acts themselves are the only relevant reflection on the person in question.

a) "Wow, that Charles Manson is a bad guy! Did you see his tatoo?"
b) "He must have a small penis."
a & b) "hahahah."

A and B are both idiots. Everything they might subsequently say can safely should be discarded.

Sexist?

Try this; make a similar "joke" about the size of Ann Coulter's vagina being explanatory of her behavior. DU will have no problem identifying the sexism then.

15. I've been told that merely asking someone to "flip the genders"

and see if it is offensive then is a false comparison.

Because it ignores the context of those comments (ie "within the patriarchy&quot .

Or in other words it's a fancy way of saying "it's ok when *we* do it".

One can't believe that "it's okay when we do it", no matter how many fancy words are used, and not be a sexist.
