If it is misogyny to mention a female celeb has gained weight, it is misandry when...?

Or is it fair to assume that NO ONE would call this misandry because it has everything to do with celebrity and nothing to do with hating men or hating women (the meaning of misogyny)

It could be "misandry", though I don't believe commenting on women's weight is really misogyny.

("Misandry" isn't in the DU spelling dictionary.)

I need to quit. I am working up to it. I will be much more than "foggy" when it happens! LOL! Best of luck!

(ETA: FYI....you need to change it in the body of your message too.)

The longest was for 4 years about 3 years back. Since then, my longest was 1 year.

I think you can quit when you are ready. It can't really be done until you decide to do it, and then, it can't really be stopped except by you.

Since quitting smoking is, by definition, a passive activity (all that needs to be done is to NOT smoke), it is definitely do-able.

Please let us know on the forum when you quit, maybe a little support will help.

I've battled other demons, notably alcohol and crappy food and oh did I mention alcohol, but thankfully nicotine was never something I got into enough to have to kick it.

Fortunately, because I know from those around me who've fought with it, that it's tough.

Anyway, again, good for you!!!!!

According to the latest definition, misogyny includes any mention of anything derogatory about any woman for any reason. It also includes favorable mentions, if those favorable mentions include any mention of physical attractiveness.

There is no such thing as misandry-- men exist to be shamed and ridiculed. Jailed if possible.

it is only misogyny when directed against some women.

Those that are deemed insufficiently feminist are fair game and may be labeled stupid sluts as the argument requires.

and then I saw some threads about conservative women on here.

Dress inappropriately and you're a tart or airhead (actual words used).

No old school male chauvinist ever displayed as much hate for women as some (emphasis) feminists display towards women who are deemed traitors to the cause.

it's a little disingenuous to complain when people talk about the visual presentation of your personal appearance.

sexism requires power.

So for instance a male paparazzi hoping to make 25k per year off his photos is privileged. The incredibly wealth female celeb he is photographing is a helpless victim with no power (even when she orders her body guards to have the man forcibly removed she is still the helpless victim).

Ergo: it's ok when women do it.
