A middle-class adult in Finland owns $122 for every billion dollars of his or her nation's wealth. In Canada it's $13. In the U.S. it's 60 cents. Only middle-class adults in China and India earn less. Higher taxes on U.S. corporations could help redress the discrepancy.

What needs to be kept in mind as well is that most of the other countries shown and discussed have much more secure social safety nets, including low-cost health care, low-cost college, etc. So the United States is missing out on a government supportive of the middle class while at the same time having a middle class that is less wealthy compared to its developed nation counterparts.
Is there causation? Maybe. But regardless, it's tough to think of a reason why a middle class family would chose to live in the United States versus virtually any other developed nation.
