If Manafort had never become tRump's campaign manager would he ever have been brought to justice?

In other words, why did he get away with this so long?

they are incredibly incompetent and leave evidence all over the place and rely on bullying tactics to escape justice.

wall streeters are geniuses by comparison. they spend a ton of money making gaming the system legal, and then spend a ton more money making sure that whatever they do to skirt the law can't be prosecuted. they're really good at not leaving evidence of actual criminal wrongdoing, and even if they do get caught, they have a ton of money to hire actually really good lawyers, unlike donnie.

moreover, a lot of what brought on the financial crisis wasn't really "wall street's" doing; or at least, what wall street was doing would have been legal and actually fine if it weren't for the local bad actors who approved flagrantly fraudulent loans.

what steams me isn't that wall streeters didn't go to jail, it's that they survived commercially. rating agencies, in particular, failed miserably, and it's astonishing to me that investors continued to value their opinions and analyses with nary a hiccup. i'd be fine with none of them going to prison if they at least went bankrupt. but no, the rating agencies are doing just fine....

When the Savings and Loan scandal happened in the 1980's a lot of people went to jail. When the financial crisis happened it seemed no one got so much as a jay walking ticket.
