Retaking the House will do no good if Nancy or ? keeps impeachment off the table. I'm hoping for tough , bold leadership that will stop playing nice with the repugs. I'm listening for the term "bite me" to come out of the democrats once and awhile.

If we don't take the Senate by a super majority it will be an exercise in futility however.

Not good to talk about that before it can happen.
I think that the GOP would LOOOOOOVE for the twofer of Dems clamoring for Nancy to threaten impeachment right now.

To use the rude parlance of campaign strategy.

Impeachment would be nice, but is not absolutely necessary to neuter trump.

(17,865 posts)Discussions in this group have often gone off in different directions. And one of the benefits of DU groups is that members can feel comfortable and protected within them where they would feel more vulnerable in the larger forums.
This is a group, not a forum. Groups often serve as safe havens for members who share similar interests and viewpoints.
Over the years, the Economy Group has discussed just about everything. It's in that "etc." of the group's stated purpose.
Discuss fiscal and economic policy. Budget, taxes, spending, etc.
But here's another thing --
In the Fox & Friends interview aired today, Trump himself brought up the issue of impeachment, claiming that if he were to be impeached, the market would crash and everyone would be poor. Political issues often have direct impacts both positive and negative on the markets and the economy. Is it a stretch to justify discussion of potential impeachment in this group? Maybe. But in the past we've gone much further afield.
THAT ALL BEING SAID, I have to agree that maybe now isn't the best time for Democrats to discuss impeachment as a possibility, especially since Trump himself is bringing the subject up. Let the GOP discuss it, air the pros and cons, take the responsibility for what they've done. Even with successful mid-term elections in November, the Democrats will not have an impeachment-level majority in the Senate.
But the power to investigate, with subpoenas to get testimony and documents, will fall to the Democrats in the House with a flip. That could ultimately lead to the shift toward impeachment support in the Senate. Impeachment then becomes a more valid point for discussion.
I don't run this group; I have no power to shut down a discussion. But I do have the power to support a long-time member of this group and point out how I personally see the subject as perfectly valid, even if I don't 100% agree with hotler. Maybe only 95.4%.
