Hershey says it won't be able to meet Halloween demand this year

New York (CNN Business) — Bad news for Halloween enthusiasts. This year, you might be out of luck in the candy aisle.

"We will not be able to fully meet consumer demand," for the October holiday, warned Hershey CEO Michele Buck in prepared remarks about the company's second-quarter results Thursday.

The problem? Consumers are demanding more regular and Halloween-themed candy than Hershey can make, at least right now.

Many consumer goods manufacturers have been struggling to meet surging demand for their products during the pandemic, especially with the ongoing supply chain issues. That's meant that they've had to reduce production of certain less popular items or, as in the case of the late, great Choco Taco, cut them altogether.

Hershey is in the same boat.

at Costco or the restaurant supply store…and I buy them early. I figure there will be enough…I hope so anyway because my neighborhood kiddos have come to expect it.

and it will be too dark for the little ghouls to com out.

{my understanding is that the reason daylight time goes into November is so trick or treating happens in daylight so the candy makers can sell more candy.}

So the Republicans will be ready to blame Biden for a candy shortage right before Election Day PLUS the price for candy will probably skyrocket.
Well played Republicans.

My side of the street is dark with a narrow pavement walkway. The other side has a nice wide sidewalk and get 100-150 kids at each house. I always buy in anticipation that we'll get more but it doesn't work out that way. Darn...what am I going to do with the rest of this candy?
