Machinists' union leader has 'serious concerns' about Boeing board pick Nikki Haley
The union representing Boeing's aerospace machinists said Thursday it's concerned about the nomination of former diplomat and politician Nikki Haley to the jet maker's board of directors
The International Aerospace Machinists has serious concerns about the nomination of (former United Nations) Ambassador Haley to Boeings board," International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) President Robert Martinez Jr. said in a statement.
As South Carolina governor, Haley fought union efforts to organize workers at the Boeing 787 Dreamliner assembly plant in Charleston, saying unions weren't needed because companies in her state care for their workers.
Martinez Jr. said Haley had "a record of using anti-union rhetoric and inserting politics into working peoples decisions."
