Tell Your State Senators to Vote NO To A Right to Work Bill In Michigan
Governor Rick Snyder and Republican legislative leaders just announced plans to make Michigan the 24th state with a right-to-work law. The bill is so heinous that they inserted an appropriation clause into the Right to Work legislation, making it impossible for the voting public to undue it by referendum.
Workers, union or nonunion, make an average of $1,500 less per year in Right to Work states. They are also less likely to have pension or health care benefits. The growth rate for Right to Work states before they adopted such policies is actually higher than the growth rate for these states after they adopted these laws.
Instead of focusing on divisive issues like "right to work," the legislature should focus on getting Michiganders back to work in good paying jobs. We want more jobs, not fewer rights.
