Pa. company cited in Neb. worker’s death (penalty is $14,000 if not appealed)

NORFOLK, Neb. (AP) — State regulators have cited a Pennsylvania steel mill service company following the death of a worker at a Nebraska steel plant.

In October, Perry Hoemann, 58, of Hoskins, was killed and another worker, a 49-year-old, was injured at the Nucor Steel plant when a piece of machinery they were working on broke loose and hit their pay loader. Hoemann was working with employees of Tube City IMS — based in Glassport, Pa. — when the accident occurred.

Nebraska’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration office issued two citations to Tube City for employees being exposed to work hazards.

The penalty is $14,000. The company has 15 days to accept or contest the violations.

1. Tube City IMS is a DE corp. Its officers reside near Philly. Its headquarters are near Pittsburgh.

I found that information on the Pennsylvania Department of State website.

I liked it better when companies chose one state in which to be incorporated and establish their headquarters.

Also, I like it when a company has at least one of its main officers residing near its headquarters in order to check on safety and environmental concerns. However, in the case of Tube City IMS, its website lists two business addresses. The first address is in Glassport (the location of its "Registered Office&quot which is near Pittsburgh. The second business address shown on the company's website is near Philadelphia.
