KEARNEY, Neb. — A Kearney man is in jail for writing a bomb threat on a job application.

With good time, Jason Dornhoff could serve 22 days in jail for making felony terroristic threats in July. Dornhoff, 38, was also placed on four years’ probation earlier this week in Buffalo County District Court.

Judge Bill Wright gave him three days’ credit for time already served.

Snip: Court records outline the case against Dornhoff:

Around 11:10 p.m. Thursday, a restaurant employee called Kearney police after the man entered the restaurant, filled out a job application, then penned the threat. On the back of the job application, Dornhoff wrote: “I have no money, a hung bomb in my truck, and a syringe of bleach that will kill you instantly. If you be quiet and help me, you won't die.”

When officers arrived at the restaurant they found the man sitting at the bar. Police took Dornhoff into custody. The investigation revealed the man had been using meth.

Dornhoff's vehicle was searched, but police did not find a bomb or a syringe of bleach.
Dornhoff posted $10,000 bail and was released. He is to appear in court in August.
