Union Members and Supporters, we have a family in need!

Sheet Metal Workers Local 19′s William Ball’s son Xavier has a rare genetic disorder known as TSC, which causes tumors to grow on the brain, heart, kidneys, eyes and lungs. Currently Xavier has tumors on his brain which cause seizures. Brother Ball’s wife and Xavier are going to be making trips to and from Pittsburgh Children’s Hospital for brain surgery on young Xavier. This is going to be quite a monetary burden on the Ball family we ask that members and supporters please donate what they can through the GoFundMe. Times are tough for many of us, but even a little bit would mean the world to this family in need.

You can also go back to the GoFundMe link and view Xavier’s progress in this journey. Below is the description coming from Xavier (Through Mommy) on the GoFundMe page.

“I have a genetic disorder called Tuberous Sclerosis Complex aka TSC. This is a rare genetic disorder that causes tumors to grow on my brain, heart, kidneys, eyes and lungs. I have several on my brain that cause me to have seizures. Doctors have prescribed me many medications none of which can control the constant seizures I have. I have these ones now that make my head drop. If you were to see them you would think I was bowing to you, but unfortunately I am not that is just a seizure. I even have these ones that I start out by smiling at you and then nothing I am just staring into space. This is crazy to see but you know what that’s why I am Xavier and I am ME!

In October I will be heading to Pittsburgh Children’s Hospital for brain surgery. Now I am only going to be 22 months old and it seems very scary, but not for me I am a warrior! My mommy not so much she loves me so much she is scared for me. My daddy won’t be with us this time because he has to take care of my baby sister and make sure that he goes to work so that mommy and I can stay at the hospital and bills can still get paid.

Now like I said I am a warrior and this disease does not define me I define IT! I will have many more journeys to Pittsburgh with my mommy to be sure that everything is going as it should and that the tumors are not growing anywhere else or becoming something more severe.

I am finishing up this letter asking for just a little bit of help for me and my family. As much as we would like to say “We are OK”, we are not. Trips to and from Pittsburgh cost a lot in gas and if we have to stay then mommy has to buy her own food which cost us more. I even go to Pittsburgh to have my eyes checked, I just went and they said I have a little nearsightedness.

With my daddy having so much pride as well as my mommy this is hard for me to ask for help but we are in need!! THANK YOU!!!”

I know that times are tight but if you can spare $5 it will help. Can you skip that cup of coffee to help this family? Please donate below.
