July 19, 2014 : Updated: July 19, 2014 1:31pm

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) — General Electric plans to open an estimated $20 million plant along Puerto Rico's north coast while closing two other plants in the U.S. territory.

Puerto Rico's Industrial Development Company says construction will begin this year on the facility to produce molded case circuit breakers. The plant is expected to start operating in mid-2015.

The company said Friday it will phase out operations at its plants in San German and Vega Baja by the end of 2015.

Information on how the changes would affect jobs was not announced.
