Executive Director Position Open

I've never been an Exuctive Director, but it seems like an appropriate path. I like the org and believe in the mission. The only thing holding me back is that I wonder if I'm actually mature enough.

I love a lot of things about my current org and feel a lot of loyalty - but I can also see that I know what it takes to be a good ED and often wish for such an opportunity. Also, there's a lot of pressure on my income and it would be great to grow it.

10. They got over 100 resumes...

...and narrowed it down to 25 for phone interviews. I think I did well enough to make the next cut, but The woman who interviewed me said that they were "blessed with so many talented applicants."

It's a strange situation because the organization where I currently serve has a relationship with them. We have a co-sponsored event this week. I think they are clear on confidentiality. I'm a little nervous.

11. Someone I know just got an ED position at the age of 28

and I know of another ED who got her job at around 25 years old.

I'm actually 43. My immaturity stems from the belief that immaturity is the key to youthfulness.

Actually, I both crave and fear greater responsibility and accountability. On one hand, I have a lot of knowledge and talent and I would love to be the one who has primary responsibility for implementing policy and communicating vision. On the other hand, I tend to obsessively worry about everything and I wonder about my emotional capacity to be the one with whom the buck stops.
