Trying something new re: "Help a DUer"

(I was previously given permission by Skinner to post periodically about http://www.wishadoo.org, especially when it involves DUers, with this required disclaimer: "The administrators of Democratic Underground have given permission for one discussion thread on this topic. The administrators of Democratic Underground make no claims regarding the legitimacy or illegitimacy of this fundraising effort. Permission was granted by Skinner on 8/6/2010, and the moderators have been notified.&quot

If you're not familiar with Wishadoo, please see my journal for previous posts.

I can't create OPs too often in GD for several reasons, one of which is compassion fatigue. The number of DUers in need significantly outweighs those who are in a position to help, so it's overwhelming. (No doubt there are many reading who are struggling fairly severely...my heart goes out to everyone; I live on the edge myself.)

When a DUer creates a crisis post at Wishadoo! and I have to wait before creating another OP in GD, I thought I'd post in their favorite group in the interim. I'll ask the hosts of each group for permission before doing so, and the host here kindly gave permission.

DuffyDuff created such a post at Wishadoo! a couple of days ago. My hope is that some in this group will be able to help, however you can, even if it's in the form of suggestions or simply offering acknowledgement and good vibes. Asking for help -- for most of us -- takes tremendous courage.

I am currently a substitute teacher who is experiencing a big cash crunch this month. I right now have NO money to last me until the end of August, when I receive a tiny pension check of $300. There is no other income, and I have not found any work in the meantime. I will hopefully start making money from my jobs at the end of September. I am behind on a couple of bills. I also don't have any money right now for food or for gasoline. I also need money for dog food this month and for some Nutri-cal for my chihuahua.

Please see the following link where a donation widget is available for those in a position to help. You may contact Duffyduff here at DU or at Wishadoo!
