Titicaca Lake to Be Restocked with Native Species
La Paz, Aug 23 (Prensa Latina) The executive president of the Authority of Titicaca Lake, Alfredo Mamani, confirmed the upcoming opening of laboratories, which will be responsible for restocking the water shared by Bolivia and neighbouring Peru with native species.
The Decentralized Public Institution for Fisheries and Aquaculture (IPD-PACU) and the Ministry of Rural Development and Lands, among other entities, will also participate in this project, Mamani said in a press release.
'Bolivian scientists have closely followed the experiences of the neighboring nation, who have worked to preserve native species for the past 20 years, through the Special Project of Titicaca Lake,' he said.
'There are currently three laboratories, on the Peruvian side, working to restock native species in Maggiore Lake, with excellent results,' he noted.
