Hidden underwater melt-off in the Antarctic is doubling every 20 years and could soon overtake Greenland to become the biggest source of sea-level rise, according to the first complete underwater map of the world’s largest body of ice.

to the ocean, which will be the cause of the increased rise in sea level. The loss of underwater ice itself has no direct effect on sea level.

Until we get data on how much the land ice is speeding up as a result of this, predictions will be difficult to make. But it will definitely have an effect.
