EDIT
For the last 18 months, residents in the Fayette County community have pleaded with state and federal regulators to put their community on the Environmental Protection Agencys Superfund National Priorities List for heightened levels of PCBs chemicals linked to cancers and reproductive issues. Getting on the list would make Minden eligible for more funds and cleanup.
The chemicals were banned by the federal government in 1979 and first found in Minden in 1984. Since then, the EPA has come and gone, hoping to clean up the community. But federal regulators cant make a decision about the NPL until they complete more testing in the community. And until then, the EPAs hands are tied, Cosmo Servido, administrator for the EPAs Region 3, said Thursday night. We have to work within our regulatory authority, he said Thursday at a listening session with Minden residents at the New Beginning Apostolic Church on McKinney Road.
Like the last few similar listening meetings, residents told officials not enough was being done, and talked about their relatives and friends whose health was affected by PCBs. Thursday, fewer residents came to the church, which had been filled in the past.
We get tired of telling the story again to all these folks, Susie Worley-Jenkins, who lives in Minden, said Thursday.

I wonder if this has anything to do with the overall lack of reaction:
