Oman Nails Hottest Overnight Low On Record - 108.7F - On Tuesday June 26th

You may think it's hot in Memphis — and it is — but cheer up because it could be worse.

A city in Oman, on the Arabian peninsula adjacent to Saudi Arabia, set a record this week for the hottest low temperature ever recorded over a 24-hour period — just under 109 degrees Fahrenheit. It was 108.7 degrees, to be exact, but who wants to quibble over .3 degrees when it's sweltering?

The Washington Post reported that the record temperature was set Tuesday. Dr. Jeff Masters at Weather Underground first noted the record, saying it beat the previous record of 107.4 degrees, also in Oman, in 2011.

Standing on the metal deck, you had to keep stepping or the heat would come up through your shoes.

Very low humidity made it somewhat bearable.

I think I remember 120 degrees in the daytime but not sure if that was true or faulty memory.
It was in 1986
