A family of hunters explores what remains of Montana forests decimated by fires and beetle infestations, both made worse by warming.

Gone in a Generation

rest of the state is probably going to burn this summer. We have had very little precip this winter and unless it rains all summer long, we'll be seeing the burning of what didn't burn in the past two years.

Right now, I can see down into one of our large wilderness areas and I can see bare rocks that should be shrouded in snow, all the way to the peaks on most of them.

daughter lives in Bozeman. I live in e. Washington. We've been through numerous fires - lost our home in '94. Mandatory evacuation last summer.

Scary. 😔
