This Sounds Productive - House Science Committee To "Grill" Perry On DOE Research

He'll give his usual dazzling performance, I'm sure.

Energy Secretary Rick Perry heads back to Capitol Hill this week to talk department research activities in front of the House Science, Space and Technology Committee.

The hearing comes after House Democrats passed a fiscal 2020 spending bill that includes large increases for clean energy research initiatives despite a Trump administration request to dramatically reduce that spending.

Democrats boosted funding for the Office of Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy to $2.6 billion, a nearly $300 million increase compared to fiscal 2019. They also attached record funding for the Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy at $425 million.

The Department of Energy's request would have slashed funding at EERE by nearly 86% and outright eliminated ARPA-E.
