2019 Ice Extent ended the year as the 8th lowest in the satellite era
It ended the month 675,000 km2 lower than the 1981-2010 average. This compares to 1,247,000 km2 lower than average on 30 November. However, it is 1,636,000 km2 lower than the record end of year extent on 31 December 1979.
