Alaska Airlines switches to boxed water on flights to curb plastic waste

The next time you step on an Alaska Airlines flight, don't be surprised if a flight attendant offers you a box of water instead of the once-ubiquitous clear plastic bottle.

The SeaTac-based airline has decided to replace plastic water bottles with boxes of water from a Michigan-based Boxed Water is Better LLC to cut plastic waste generated by its flights, which are on the rise again as the recovery begins.

Of course, Alaska would rather serve you no water at all.

The carrier urges passengers to bring and fill their own flasks of H2O as part of its #FillBeforeYouFly campaign.

If you bring your own you should fill it after going through the TSA check. I tried to bring a bottle of on one flight and was told to either drink it right there or dump it out.

I think is the best domestic carrier. In Portland if you support the local soccer team by wearing a shirt you can board with First Class. I then change it out of the sweatshirt in the plane while enjoying the prime overhead storage.
