5. took a cruise to alaska once.

took a day trip, took a helicopter and stood on a glacier.
went up a fiord that was full of small bergs. it was amazing.
didnt see much dropping, tho.

but thought it would be of interest:

On May 28, 2008, Adam LeWinter and Director Jeff Orlowski filmed a historic breakup at the Ilulissat Glacier in Western Greenland. The calving event lasted for 75 minutes and the glacier retreated a full mile across a calving face three miles wide. The height of the ice is about 3,000 feet, 300-400 feet above water

As the video made clear, the melting of our glaciers has the potential to completely change this earth as we know it, making vast areas completely uninhabitable...

This one, as it rises out of the water, you can see where the melt water flows through the glacier. Known as Ice-marginal meltwater channels
