China's Electricity Problem

The video discusses the use of coal production in the southern portion of China. The use of renewable energy has the most potential in the western and northern portions of the country while industrial need and the population is concentrated closer to the coastline. The video also discusses the difficulties with keeping up with internal coal production, the availability of exported coal and subsequent ban of coal from Australia during the pandemic, and the effect of the drought on hydroelectric production.

...can be replaced by so called "renewable energy."

Coal is dirty, but it is reliable and the plants last a long time.

Wind and solar are unreliable, and the infrastructure is short lived and converts to landfill quickly.

During the extreme temperature events in Europe, Texas and California, this summer the wind industry was essentially useless. Germany burned coal, California and Texas burned gas.

The Chinese actually have one of the only rational approaches to removing dependence on coal. They have built more than 50 nuclear reactors in this century, more than any other country.
