(5,523 posts)I suggested the Gov procurement agencies should place orders for electric vehicles at every auto dealer in every state. They could be ordered with the expected delivery to be in three or four years, giving the auto companies incentives to gear up and help create a civilian market.

(11,901 posts)Vehicle designs that far out are still preliminary with no established configuration, specifications or prices.
"Yes, this is the Federal government; we would like to place an order for 400 vehicles"
What would you like to order?
" I dont really know what will be available in 2027, but as long as they are electric we will order them now .How much will they cost ?"

(1,091 posts)How far do most of their vehicles drive in a day?
In my city, they drive from one of a couple distribution points, they deliver mail, move to another spot, deliver mail, move to another spot, etc...
I doubt if they drive 50 miles a day.
they return to the distribution spot for the evening, perfect time to plug in and get ready for the next day.
