As of this writing, Germany has the second highest carbon intensity in all of Europe, 744 g CO2/kwh.

The country is run by members of Greenpeace, not that this will stop journalists from referring to Greenpeace as an "environmental organization."

...policies of Merkel and the former Chancellor of Germany before her, Gerhardt Schroeder, who now works for Vladimir Putin's Gazprom.

Both of them advocated for a nuclear phase out, Schroeder apparently for personal enrichment, and Merkel for political expediency.

In her case, it's especially ugly, since she had to know what she was doing. She's a trained scientist.
