Largest floating solar array in North America now online in New Jersey (8.9-MW)

Solar Power World | Kelly Pickerel | June 7, 2023

The largest floating solar array in North America is now complete in New Jersey. Owned and operated by NJR Clean Energy Ventures, the 8.9-MW solar project covers 17 acres of the Canoe Brook reservoir in Short Hills, New Jersey. The project will provide approximately 95% of the power needs for New Jersey American Water’s Canoe Brook Water Treatment Plant.

“Floating solar technology creates new opportunities for underutilized bodies of water, allowing space that would otherwise sit vacant to enable large-scale renewable energy generation, which helps to bring the benefits of clean energy to even more customers,” said Robert Pohlman, Vice President of NJR Clean Energy Ventures. “As a leader in New Jersey’s solar marketplace, we look forward to working with New Jersey American Water to support its power needs and advance the state’s clean energy and climate goals.”...more

But we must continue to build a system that decreases our use of fossil fuels at the best pace we possibly can.

" The project will provide approximately 95% of the power needs for New Jersey American Water’s Canoe Brook Water Treatment Plant."

Maybe you think reducing the CO2 that would have been emitted to run that plant is 'worthless' but I disagree.

The skies of New Jersey were filled with soot all week because of this tiresome credulous bullshit about how trillions of dollars squandered on this reactionary junk is about fossil fuels.

You scratch the surface lightly of anyone who sells this junk, and you find someone attacking the last, best hope of humanity, nuclear energy.

Destroying ecosystems because of idiot affectation, all of them dishonest is not "green." It's destructive.

Think. Again.

Your argument that we could and should replace fossil fuels with nuclear energy alone, ignoring the wide variety of limitations, applications, needs, safety, environmental, and justice issues that must be considered in order to actually DO that is what is really dishonest, and if believed by the public (ya never know) would result in our continuing to burn fossil fuels until they are gone.

8. If one is literate, one can discern what is and is not honest.

There is not one of any of the "I'm. Not an an antinuke" antinukes here who have been showing up like clockwork for 20 years who has ever shown even a perfunctory interest in engineering or science to support their chanting.

They simply repeat rite slogans obviating the depth of their sloppy indifference. When one obviously doesn't know what one is talking about, one is not competent to discuss "limitations."

My journal in thus space has many thousands of references to the primary scientific literature to support my ideas. The cavalcade of puerile fools who just don't give a shit about numbers and show up here to hand out solar cand wind junk are the energy equivalents of Fox "News."

The term "gaslighting" in fact applies to this cavalcade of barely literate sloganeers, even more than it does to Fox, since there ignorance has served the interests of the fracking and coal mining industry for well over 50 years.

...associated with the handwavers. Some turn sullen faster than others but none of them have anything to say about the catastrophe before us other than handing out the same insipid slogans that have been flying around for 20 years here.

Usually they want to complain about me, because of their limitations prclude them from hearing about the realities about which they don't want to hear.

I don't make reality, I just report it, as I've been doing for 20 years here. In general of all the series of generic antinukes here, one after another, they think if the kill or insult the messenger that reality will change.

It doesn't and it won't. The solar and wind fantasy didn't work, it's not working and it won't work. Ten years from now, 25 to 30 ppm higher than the 424 ppm levels we're at now, "solar and wind will save us" antinukes will still be here chanting the same dogma. No amount of information can address dogma, and if people want to while about me because they can't handle reality I couldn't care less. Talking to any one of these generic antinukes is the same as talking to any other.
