The Delta cannot be saved



Meral was tapped to steer the Bay Delta Conservation Plan's controversial "twin tunnels" project to divert fresh water from the Sacramento River.

On April 15, Meral was talking to Tom Stokely, a water policy analyst with the California Water Impact Network. Within earshot was Barbara Barrigan-Parrilla, campaign director of Restore the Delta.

Stokely and Barrigan-Parrilla, both told The Bee that Meral said this: "BDCP is not about, and has never been about saving the Delta. The Delta cannot be saved."
