Fukushima operator says workers dusted with radioactive particles

http://uk.reuters.com/article/2013/08/19/uk-japan-fukushima-exposure-idUKBRE97I0CE20130819

(Reuters) - The operator of Japan's crippled Fukushima nuclear plant said on Monday two workers were found to be contaminated with radioactive particles, the second such incident in a week involving staff outside the site's main operations centre.

Two dust monitors sounded alarms earlier on Monday outside the operations centre, where radiation levels are usually low enough to avoid the need for full face masks, Tokyo Electric Power Co said in an emailed statement.

Two workers waiting for a bus at the end of their shift were found to be have been contaminated with radioactive particles, which were wiped off their bodies before they left the site, Tokyo Electric, also known as Tepco, said. Full body checks of the staff members showed no internal contamination.

The utility said it could not be sure the alarms were connected with the discovery of the contamination of the workers. The incident is being investigated.

Slowly but surely.

And there is NOTHING anyone can do about it.

Fukushima is not "killing the rest of the world" (the oil that Japan has burned since Fukushima to create electricity will result in far more deaths than Fukushima ever will).

The stress you're experiencing over this is the only significant effect Fukushima is having, or will ever have, on your health. Fortunately, there's a simple cure - educate yourself about radiation, its effects on humans, and potential dangers.

And that only because of Voice of America who saved our sorry asses by telling us what happend and how we should protect ourselves! And also because I was just a kid, they gave us potassium iodide .only children got it. Adults were left to die.

Don't fucking tell me Fukushima is not killing!!!! Fukushima IS killing. And its too late.

than ionizing radiation. 10,000 Americans die from cancer caused by exposure to the sun every year; about 15,000 from the effects of coal smoke.

Cancer is very real, but it's important to understand what the main causes are.

I'm very sorry to hear about your mom.

A glance at that person's transparency page and any of their remaining(*) posts
will explain a lot.

(*) = "remaining" as their #1 tactic is
1) Start or hijack thread to troll any random subject.
2) Get a bite from someone so far unfamiliar with this poster.
3) Hurl abuse interspersed with some variant of a sob story.
4) Get locked out of thread.
5) Self-delete OP (and sometimes the more incriminating replies) to lock thread
(or just alert repeatedly in the hope that a jury will unwittingly aid the "fun&quot .

The difference between you and me is my conscience is clear based on facts, not superstition.

Care to address the issue, or just cast ad hominems?

Nuclear power may have saved 1.8 million lives otherwise lost to fossil fuels, may save up to 7 million more.

So very sorry about your mum. My mother and I were downwinders from the US nuke tests, she was given DES to prevent miscarriage (causes cancer in the mothers, but daughters get the worst) and we were both exposed to chronic low-level mercury and pesticides living between two farms in the sixties and seventies. She died riddled with cancer, it was everywhere, and I know it was the culmination of all those things.

Hope you stay well!
