If we continue as we're going we wind up with all these technological advances we've made for naught. If we change its going to cost us dearly in monetary object. Whats a civilization to do???
It seems that appliances, our toys and transportation is whats driving most of this. I say we mandate that appliances and our toys, electronic ones at least be made to be 100% more efficient than what we have today and a push for more mass transit. Oh the appliance and toy manufacturers are going to say they can't make our electronic gadgets much more efficient but we all have heard this before. For instance when the auto industry was told they would have to clean up the exhaust they said it would cost too much and make automobiles too complicated, that turned out to be false. When they were told they had to increase the fleet average MPG's they said they'd already designed in as much efficiency as can be gotten but again we've seen that to not be the case.
Case in point. A few years ago I needed a drill press so I went on a drill press buying mission. Found a model that said it was 1 hp and it was a table top model just what I was looking for, would drill a 4 inch deep hole no problem. I buy it, bring it home and it is so week that its a good thing I don't need that 4 inch capacity as the motor won't turn a bit with that much friction let alone be cutting anything to boot. I get my trusty clamp on amp meter out and sure enough the motor is drawing 746 watts of power like a 1 hp motor would but I can take a gloved hand and take the pulley in that hand and turn the motor on and do with that pulley as I may because the power the motor puts out can't be more than a 1/10th of a hp if that much even though it pulls the amps like a 1 hp motor does. I look at the motor and see right off what the problem there is, not much windings in it, mostly air and air doesn't add anything to the power it is supposedly supposed to make. The readings on a meter says that it should be a one horse motor but in reality its a long way from that. In other words I was sold a lie, the company should have to either correctly state the power it has or put the amount of copper windings in the motor so it will create the one hp it says it is.
What I'm getting at is we need standards and we need to make sure everything meets those standards. We did it with the automobile industry and they were able to do it, albeit kicking and screaming the whole way but thats a subject for another time.
Government mandated efficiency would help a lot but that wouldn't be getting the government off our backs though so the pukes won't allow that to happen or if they do it will be so watered down that the law won't mean a whole lot anyway.
I guess what we really need to do is educate the masses as to exactly what the republiCON party stands for. Hint: It is not what they pass themselves off to be either.
GOTV is the answer along with educating the stupid ones in what is happening before its too late.
The chink in all this armor I propose is educating the stupid people because by definition that's impossible.

I guess any good news, if under 400 ppm is good news, is better than none. Meaning that 400 ppm is still going to fry our butts so it really can't be considered good news except that it can by way that its better than more than 400 ppm

Its late, I'm half asleep, brain dead and not sure I have any answers, more than likely don't. I guess we're going to wind up destroying our planet just as sure as the sun will come up in the morning.
