Chernobyl fox makes five-decker sandwich

Published on Apr 27, 2015
A fox in Chernobyl has made a large sandwich using cold meats and bread fed to him by a radio crew in the area.
The fox appears unafraid of humans, presumably because they are so rarely seen in the nuclear exclusion zone.

We'd just arrived at a holiday cottage when we noticed one of the "resident"
pine martens investigating the newcomers so tossed out a couple of biscuits
to her. She took a nibble of one, decided that yes, that was just what the family
needed and then proceeded to try to fit all of them into her mouth!

She ended up having to make two trips but was it was absolutely delightful to
see how inventive she was.

I totally love seeing all manner of creatures when they are solving problems
like that!

Sad but true: nuclear waste is the least of the damage that we (collectively)
have inflicted on the planet and all its inhabitants over the last few centuries.
