A NUMBER of Vladimir Putin’s closest allies have been accused of aiding one of Russia’s largest criminal groups in Spain.

The chairman of Gazprom, Viktor Zubkov, one of his deputies and two former Russian ministers helped the St Petersburg’s Tambov crime syndicate for over a decade, Madrid prosecutors say.

A 488-page document presented to the courts outlines a decade of investigations linking offshore Russian organised crime to law-enforcement and policy makers in Moscow.

The document connects 27 people, based on thousands of wiretaps, bank transfers and property transactions.

Why can't you people see that Russia is the real victim here? DetlefK Jun 2015 #1
Yes, indeed. Hostile alliances against Isis are unforgivable. A wee litany of strawmen Joe Chi Minh Jun 2015 #2

First you make the accusation that the russian soldiers supporting the separatists in Ukraine aren't really on vacation there.

Then you refuse to rule out the canceling of the soccer world-championship in Russia just because Russia may or may not have bribed FIFA officials.

Then you badmouth Russia for supporting a bloodthirsty dictator who is Russia's ally and one of many opponents of ISIS.

And now you claim that rich and powerful russian citizens have connections to the russian mafia?

Do you people stop at nothing?

spiced with an unsupported smear. Good going. Which, however, is not to say that thread-header is likely to be a fabrication.

It was aimed at the people here on DU who follow the logic
"America is evil empire" + "Russia is enemy of US" = "Russia is good guys"

They carry water for Russia on the sole premise that Russia MUST be the good guys because America MUST be the bad guys. You can't trust anything you get from the western media and you can trust everything you get from russian media... These people are rebels looking for something to rebel against and, Yes, you find more than enough of them here on DU.

"Russia is evil empire" + America is enemy of Russia" = "America is good guys"

Your example takes for granted that all issues are Black and White without Nuance. Its the old "You're Either For 'EM--Or, Against 'EM. There is no grey area there for discussion and diplomacy....leading to more wars, death, destruction, dislocation with loss of businesses, homes, family connections and sustainability for the innocents caught up in all of it.
