Human Rights Watch Daily Brief, 15 April 2016

Trapped between ISIS & Turkey's closed border; Pope to visit refugees in Greece; landmark LGBT case in China; new testimony on the disappeared in Mexico; getting to the truth in Indonesia; harassment of rights commission in Nepal; and ending the abusive "war on drugs."

Renewed fighting between the Islamic State, also known as ISIS, and armed opposition groups in Northern Aleppo, Syria, has displaced at least 30,000 people in the past 48 hours, with Turkish border guards shooting at some of them as they approach Turkey’s new border wall. In total, there are at least 100,000 displaced persons who have been trapped in the area for some time. The situation has been called, "terrible proof of what is so wrong with the EU-Turkey deal" on refugees.
