SEOULAt the 365 Fresh Mart store here, a shopping basket is stuffed with bundles of shrink-wrapped Japanese Seven Stars cigarettes barred from sale. South Korean domestic beers occupy refrigerated shelves once dominated by Asahi and Sapporo. Laminated signs strewn across the store explain the new product mix.
This mart doesnt sell Japanese products! No Selling! No Buying! the signs read. A banner draped above the entrance proclaims: Japan Lacks Repentance over the Past!
Though the Japanese cigarettes have been a top seller in the store, 365s manager Kim Jung-myung didnt hesitate in joining more than 50,000 South Korean retailers this month in yanking Japan-made products off their shelves, according to a trade group...

JTBC reports Japans removal of South Korea from the white list of preferred trade status countries is scheduled to be implemented on August 15, Korean Independence Day, the day it was liberated from Japanese colonial rule by the United States.
