Australia says f___ you to voter ID law

The Morrison government has quietly dropped plans to introduce voter identification laws before the federal election in 2022, due to a struggle to get sufficient support in the Senate.

Labor confirmed it was notified of the government's intention on Wednesday, just hours after independent senator Jacqui Lambie said she would not vote for the laws.

The new laws would have required Australians to present a form of identification when voting and opponents said it risked disenfranchising some voters.

Sen. Lambie said it was a bad bill that risks making things worse by discouraging voters.
