China eyes military base on Africa's Atlantic coast: report

China is looking to create its first permanent military presence on the Atlantic Ocean, on the coast of the small African nation Equatorial Guinea, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal based on classified U.S. intelligence.

Though officials did not describe China's plans in detail, they said China's presence on Africa's Atlantic coast would enhance the possible threat to the U.S., as it would give Chinese warships a place to rearm and refit opposite the East Coast, the Journal reported.

Gen. Stephen Townsend, who serves as commander of U.S. Africa Command, told the Senate in April that China's "most significant threat" would be "a militarily useful naval facility on the Atlantic coast of Africa."

"By militarily useful I mean something more than a place that they can make port calls and get gas and groceries. I'm talking about a port where they can rearm with munitions and repair naval vessels," Townsend added.

She was serving with the UN War Crimes Tribunal in Sierra Leone. She said the Chinese were EVERYWHERE like they owned the place. They were there to operate, mine and empty huge deposits of iron ore inland from the coast. A few big cash payments to the right officials of impoverished countries, and they had carte blanche to do whatever they wanted. The environmental disasters they left behind were no concern of theirs.

Getting themselves a large base of operations was the next logical step. Not only would it be practical to house a small force to deal with “uncooperative business partners,” but it would allow them an Atlantic base for military operations. Seeing as how China doesn’t have territory or a major military ally on the Atlantic, the reason they want this is us (and NATO). With fish stocks disappearing due to overfishing worldwide, this would also facilitate some military muscle to protect their megatrawlers illegally operating in the Atlantic.

We have made huge advances in production and peace. But we have made the same advances in war.

Through all of this, we have had no advances in the concept of working together. We still have allies, not partners.

Pax Romana didn't work that long. Pax Americana isn't any better.

within the Empire, war with the rest of the world.

And peace within rhe Empire wasn't all that peaceful, but enforced by raw power.

military bases outside of our territory. We maintain a huge naval presence off of China’s southern coast.
