The "liberation" of eastern Ukraine's Donbas region is an "unconditional priority" for Russia, Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said in an interview.
Defending Russia's ongoing military operation more than three months after it invaded, he said again it was aimed at "demilitarising" its neighbor.
He repeated the Kremlin's widely ridiculed line that Russia is fighting a "neo-Nazi regime".
And he denied speculation that Russian President Vladimir Putin was ill.

(5,419 posts)How do you liberate a large part of a country by destroying it?
Sergei Lavrov is just echoing Putin's insane justifications.
But it's been tried before.
US in Vietnam for instance.
'We are here to liberate you! Have some napalm, some Agent Orange, some high altitude bombs. Feel liberated yet?'
Some of the older Vietnamese locals still talk about their 'liberation' from invaders.
Meaning, when the US pulled out.
Lots of other examples from other countries too, if you care to look at history closely.
