Germany's Scholz pledges to support Ukraine "for as long as it takes"

By Sabine Siebold and Jason Hovet

PRAGUE (Reuters) -Germany will keep up its support for Kyiv "for as long as it takes", Chancellor Olaf Scholz said on Monday, calling for an enlargement of the European Union to eventually include Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia.

Faced with Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Scholz urged the EU's 27 members to "close ranks, resolve old conflicts and find new solutions", setting out his vision for the future of Europe in a speech at the Charles University in Prague.

"Our Europe is united in peace and freedom and is open to all European nations who share our values," he said.

Germany had undergone a "fundamental change of heart" in recent months on its military support for Ukraine, he said.

Putin/Russia and it's expansionist aspirations. Alexandr Dugin, whose daughter was just assassinated in Moscow (meant for him?), has Putin's ear with his deconstructionist philosophy which advocates tearing down institutions to rebuild in a preferred way, and that preferred way includes a Russian empire from Belfast to Vladivostok.

So Europe must defeat Putin. And Ukraine is doing it's part as the war has reached stalemate. Putin's unwise, 3-day military exercise to capture Ukraine has turned his once-vaunted army into a laughing stock, and his image as a smart and totally in control puppet master...well that's out the window, along with his many victims.

And he needs to stay away from high windows and exploding cars as it seems some in Russia are tired of the war and him.
