A lawmaker of the far-right Brothers of Italy party who sparked outrage after a newspaper published a picture of him wearing a swastika on his left arm in 2005, was named junior infrastructure minister on Monday.

Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who personally announced Galeazzo Bignami's appointment at a news conference, is the leader of Fratelli d'Italia or Brothers of Italy, a party which traces its roots to the post-fascist Italian Social Movement, MSI.

Bignami, 47, was elected last month to a second term in parliament.

… The photo in question shows Bignami in a Nazi uniform standing next to another man wearing an SS armband at a bachelor party.

running on time. I doubt Meloni will get permission from the Italian parliament to invade Ethiopia again for the third time, and there's no Hitler to partner up with.

Oh, wait. maybe Meloni has her eye on cozying up to Erdogen or Putin as surrogates for late and departed Adolf?

Or maybe not as there are not only geopolitical impracticalities in such alliances, there are also geographic ones...like thousands of miles land belonging to other nations separating them from Italy.

Doesn't do much good being a fascist PM if there's no one else to go fascisting with.

IMO her stint as PM won't last long.

There's Orban in Hungary, Kaczyński in Poland, Putin in Russia, Sweden could join the club, France might go as well, and of course our own fascists are gearing up to resume control here.

As far as trains go, the important issues for fascism now are making sure women can't have abortions, trans people can't pee, billionaires don't pay taxes, and gas is cheap.

and getting it done? Of course not.

And Sweden is trying to join NATO. Sure fascist parties exist in those countries. Le Pen has been trying and failing for years in France.

Putin sure hasn't inspired confidence for anyone to rally around him with his bungling invasion of Ukraine...and his army was supposed to be powerful and first rate. Not, it's third rate and Putin's economy is in bad shape and hampered by crippling sanctions.

I don't see a continent-wide takeover of fascists strongmen/women allying together and accomplishing the issues you mentioned in your last graph.

But fearmongering still happens.

Obron is the darling of our fascists because of what he has done in Hungary to implement one party rule and roll back human rights. The clown 🤡 in Poland is just a little bit less effective. The Swedish shitheads are just getting started.
