Why Russia's Next Move Will Backfire - Jason Jay Smart

The Russian army is collapsing—but the true implosion is happening deep inside the Kremlin. In Ukraine, entire Russian brigades are surrendering, deserting, or vanishing in failed assaults. Ammunition is running dry. Wounded Russian soldiers are being thrown back into battle with no recovery. Leaked footage now shows troops being handcuffed together before combat—proof of a military spiraling out of control. This isn’t just defeat on the front—it’s the disintegration of Putin’s war machine.

Inside Russia, the crisis is even worse. Vladimir Putin has begun purging his own generals. His Deputy Defense Minister has been jailed for corruption. The FSB is bypassing Russian courts, operating secret prisons, and launching treason cases like Stalin’s NKVD. The regime no longer trusts its own army. It’s replacing commanders with loyalists and feeding state power into the hands of the security services. This isn’t strength—it’s fear.

Meanwhile, Ukraine has gone on the offensive—striking Russian generals in Kursk, destroying drone factories, blowing up oil depots in Ryazan and Volgograd, and crippling key radar systems. As Kyiv targets Russia’s ability to wage war, the Kremlin turns inward, paranoid and unstable. This is not a war for Donbas—it’s now a war for regime survival.

👉 This is no longer just a war: It’s a collapse—military, political, and psychological.
