The prospects for a deal between the United States and Iran are not looking good, seeing as 21 hours of negotiations in Pakistan reached a deadlock, and the United States initiated a blockade of Hormuz to prevent Iran from instituting a toll system to govern the passage. We therefore examine today who benefits more from a pause in the war, and use that information to better understand what might happen next.
