Back-to-the-future strategy for Iraq?

American veterans of the Iraq War are talking about a back-to-the-future strategy in Iraq bringing back retired U.S. military officers who successfully worked with tribes and again dispatching U.S. personnel to advise Iraqi fighters.
Its a call for an increased U.S. focus on Iraq, as the jihadist army Islamic State gains ground and raises its terror profile via social media, such as broadcasting the beheading of American journalist James Foley.
In San Diego County, Iraqi Christians have expressed horror at the persecution of their relatives there. But the other large San Diego group with ties to Iraq is U.S. military veterans, particularly Camp Pendleton Marines and sailors who served between 2003 and 2011.
They were part of the invasion, fierce battles in Fallujah and Ramadi and the fight for the difficult Sunni Triangle the area that ultimately shifted momentum in favor of the U.S.
