MK: Shoot everyone trying to cross Israel border

MK Aryeh Eldad makes remarks during tour of Israel-Egypt border fence with other MKs, as immigration authority begins enforcing new migrant law.

<snip>

"During a tour of the Israel-Egypt border on Sunday, MK Aryeh Eldad (National Union) said that IDF forces should shoot at anyone that crosses into Israeli territory.

“Anyone that penetrates Israel’s border should be shot, a Swedish tourist, Sudanese from Eritrea, Eritreans from Sudan, Asians from Sinai. Whoever touches Israel’s border – shot,” said Eldad.

Eldad, along with other members of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee toured the Israel-Egypt border on Sunday, and received a briefing from Southern Front commander Maj. Gen. Tal Russo on Israel Defense Forces activities in the sector."

<snip>

"MK Eldad, who stated that anyone approaching the fence should be shot, attempted to mitigate his statements. “It isn’t feasible to shoot anyone just climbing the fence – because bleeding hearts groups will immediately begin to shriek and turn to the courts. I don’t see the IDF handing down orders to shoot at people climbing the fence empty handed. The best alternative is prolonged imprisonment. Anyone attempting to cross the fence will be given a long jail sentence,” said Eldad."

REASON FOR ALERT:

This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate. (See <a href="http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=aboutus#communitystandards" target="_blank">Community Standards</a>.)

YOUR COMMENTS:

calling a Jew Nazi definitely antisemitic

JURY RESULTS

A randomly-selected Jury of DU members completed their review of this alert at Mon Jun 4, 2012, 12:16 AM, and voted 1-5 to LEAVE IT ALONE.

Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: No free passes from being criticized in this manner just because they were the victims before. In fact he's providing a pretty good argument against anti-Jewish racism by displaying the uglier side of human nature when in a position to do so, a trait all too common across all races.
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: No problem with the comment on my end
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: No explanation given
Juror #4 voted to HIDE IT and said: I'm slightly unsure about this. I've heard Israelis described as Nazis here before and it has been allowed to stand. I have no love for right wing ideology -if that's what it is-but I don't think we should encourage these comparisons because they are hurtful and offensive, given the history of the Jewish people
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: It's hard to tell one Right winger from another, especially when it comes to the USA and Israel.
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: No explanation given

Thank you.

so i shall enlighten you (and some others). The Nazis, which had a whole philosophy of superior humans vs the lesser brands had, for example, a philosophy of medical experiments on those lesser humans, camps where they killed people wholesale, called concentration camps, where they would herd people in "showers" and then gas them, this killing was based on the religion, sexual orientation, genetics and other aspects that had nothing to do with anything other than a philosophy of genetic superiority and removing the lesser humans. The Nazi also killed in other less efficient ways such as lining people in front of ditches and shooting them one by one or working them to death (i believe 10,000 died working on the V2 rockets for instance)

The above is the core of what Nazism is all about. The Nazis were also nice to each other, had good social benefits, wore spiffy uniforms, and had other aspects that can be compared to other armies and societies that can be considered normal and good.
____

so now we come to your comparison: what the MK said was within the bounds of a country at war, which israel is not with Egypt. The guy certainly had an "non thinking emotional" comment and quickly mitigated his statement.

_____

now that you've been enlighten about what Nazism is all about, and that it has little to do with what MK stated, you can mitigate your statement, much like the MK (seems you two have similar traits)

2. Netanyahu orders swift deportation of 25,000 illegal African migrants

Jun 2012

Orders acceleration of holding facility construction for citizens of Eritrea and Sudan who cannot be deported due to conditions in their home countries.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered his ministers to accelerate efforts to deport citizens of South Sudan, the Ivory Coast, Ghana and Ethiopia who are living in Israel illegally on Sunday.

Speaking at Sunday's cabinet meeting, Netanyahu said that while it is not possible to expel citizens of Eritrea and Sudan, whose lives would be at risk in their home countries, holding facilities for them must be built in the Negev as quickly as possible.

Including the US, much of Europe, and almost all of Asia. I applaud the decision to not expel illegal immigrants who face real peril in their home countries.

Not unless you want to be branded an ideologue or a fanatically anti-Israel.

10. New law allows Israel to jail migrants for up to 3 years
Mon Jun 4, 2012, 03:34 PM
Jun 2012

Israel amended an immigration law on Sunday which will grant authorities the power to imprison asylum seekers for up to three years, Israeli daily Haaretz reported.

The amended version of a 1954 law, entitled Prevention of Infiltration, will make asylum seekers liable to imprisonment without trial or deportation.

Anyone caught helping migrants could also face a potential prison sentence of five to 15 years, Haaretz reported.

Migrants in Israel will also be more susceptible to imprisonment for minor infractions such as petty theft or graffiti.

is far more left than many other societies.... most of the derogatory comments of the israeli right are based on ignorance or the "colonial mentality" we see in the far left. They confuse the religious elements of the society with the secular right and believe they are one and the same. Its probably easier for ranting and emotional statements, but has little to do with reality.
