Leader of the ultra-nationalist Jewish Home party Naftali Bennett says world must recognise Israel's rule over theGolan Heights
Right-wing Israeli politician and Minister of Education Naftali Bennett called on the international community to recognise Israels authority over the annexed Golan Heights.
Speaking on Sunday at the Herzliya Conference, an annual Israeli policy forum, Bennett expressed his frustration with the worlds lack of recognition of the Golan Heights as part of Israel.
What is the logic? Where is the morality? he asked. To whom would they like us to give the Golan, to Assad? he said referring to Syrian president Bashar al-Assad.
Why up until now have they not recognised the Golan? Bennett persisted. What is the reason?
Israel captured the Golan Heights from Syria during the 1967 Six Day War, along with the West Bank and Gaza strip. In 1981, Israel officially annexed the Golan, in a move that was never recognised by the international community.

White House Official: U.S. Won't Recognize Israeli Sovereignty in Golan
Washington rejects Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahus suggestion to U.S. President Barack Obama at the White House on Monday to discuss the possibility of U.S. recognition of Israeli rule over the Golan Heights, a senior White House official said.
In making the suggestion, Netanyahu pointed to Syrias growing destabilization from civil war. But the White House official said the U.S. position, which objects to Israel annexing the Golan Heights, remains unchanged, adding that Netanyahus proposal was unjustified and could even harm U.S.-backed Syrian opposition forces.

Discuss.

You know how sometimes the law favors people you don't like? This is one of those times.

The subject is your guy Bennet demanding the world recognize Israel's attempt to claim Golan. Problem is? GOlan isn't Israel. Golan is Syria.

Israel should return the Heights to Syria.
