BERLIN (JTA) Jewish leaders are slamming a German citys plan to honor an American organization, Code Pink, that backs the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement against Israel with a human rights award.
The American Jewish Committees Berlin office urged Bavarian state legislators to publicly distance themselves from the Bayreuth award, which is to be presented on April 15.
The University of Bayreuth had recommended the nongovernmental organization for the Wilhelmine-von-Bayreuth Prize for Tolerance and Humanity in Cultural Diversity, which is worth about $11,000.
Greater sensitivity is called for in selecting a recipient, Josef Schuster, head of the Central Council of Jews in Germany, said Thursday, noting this was especially important at a time when Germany wants to transmit our values to many new immigrants. According to the German news agency dpa, Schuster noted that Code Pink calls Israel an apartheid state.

And in Germany too....
How do you feel about that?

(6,171 posts)I don't really understand the reasoning behind the American Jewish Committee protesting the award, but I do know that they promote the concept of the "new" anti-Semitism, which basically means that all criticism of Israel is anti-Semitism or connected to anti-Semitism in some way (http://www.nytimes.com/2007/01/31/arts/31jews.html?_r=0).
I took a peek at Code Pink's website, and I didn't see anything wrong with what they were doing. Code Pink is involved in many issues, but on the subject of "Justice for Palestine" they highlighted the following issues:
BOYCOTT AHAVA: STOLEN BEAUTY
CODEPINK launched stolenbeauty.org in June 2009 with a protest at the Ahava shop in the Tel Aviv Hilton. As part of the global Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) Movement that aims to ensure equality, freedom and justice, CODEPINK has focused its boycott efforts on Ahava and Soda Stream, two companies that have manufacturing plants in illegal settlements in the Occupied West Bank.
REMODEL RE/MAX: NO OPEN HOUSE ON STOLEN LAND
In 2014, CODEPINK launched a campaign entitled Remodel RE/MAX: No Open Homes on Stolen Land, asking the RE/MAX, the Denver-based real estate corporation, to cease its complicity in the sale or rental of settlement properties through its contract with RE/MAX Israel. Remodel RE/MAX: No Open House on Stolen Land campaign is part of the international Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, a call by Palestinian civil society to engage in non-violent activism by boycotting companies and institutions that are complicit in Israels occupation. Find out more at remodelremax.org
BOYCOTT SODASTREAM
SodaStream markets itself as an environmentally friendly product to Turn Water Into Fresh Sparkling Water And Soda but there is nothing friendly about the destruction of Palestinian life, land and water resources! Although SodaStream products are labeled as "Made in Israel," its main production facility is in the industrial zone of Mishor Edomin, an illegal settlement in the occupied West Bank.
END US MILITARY AID TO ISRAEL
CODEPINK, together with Global Exchange, Interfaith Peace-builders, the Fellowship of Reconciliation, and over 100 peace and justice groups, are dedicated to exposing and decrying the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), a far-right Israel lobby group. Visit MoveOverAIPAC.Org to learn more about how to take action
SUPPORT PALESTINIAN HUMAN RIGHTS ADVOCATES
Background: CODEPINK, Jewish Voice for Peace and the US Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation have worked to elevate the voices of popular Palestinian organizers. In collaboration with the Popular Struggle Coordination Committee (PSCC) in the West Bank, US-based solidarity groups have been instrumental in raising the profile of the many non-violent activists who commit themselves to organizing against the Israeli occupation and who face Israeli violence and repression because of their steadfastness.

Yeah, it's that bad.
You once claimed there are some idiot racist BDS'ers, and then there are good ones.
I'm not sure you can tell the difference.

(6,171 posts)are there any other evidence that you can provide that proves that Code Pink are "100% racist pieces of shit"? I usually look at patterns to find evidence of anti-Semitism, and if Code Pink are indeed "100% racist pieces of shit" there should be ample evidence in their articles and comments. I didn't find anything, but I didn't bother digging too deep either...

(30,109 posts)....is apparently what it takes to keep blindly supporting BDS.
Do you defend any other organizations that are insanely racist against Blacks, Arabs, or Aborigines?

(30,109 posts)As in the previous conference, this years New Horizon Conference has drawn the participation of several anti-Israel activists, anti-Semitic conspiracy theorists and Holocaust deniers. A new presence at the conference is the participation of a so called American anti-war activist, Medea Benjamin, a co-founder of CODEPINK.
In addition to Benjamin, the conferences official website published the names of several American and international anti-Semites, anti-Israel activists and Holocaust deniers that are expected to be in attendance, including Maria Poumier, a French conspiracy theorist and Holocaust denier; Claudio Moffa, an Italian Holocaust denier; Kevin Barrett, an anti-Semitic conspiracy theorist and frequent contributor to Irans English language propaganda news network, Press TV; Garth Porter, an anti-Israel journalist; Pepe Escobar, a Brazilian anti-Israel journalist; and Art Olivier, a former elected official from California and 9/11 conspiracy theorist.
Moreover, Iranian news agencies have reported that a number of other individuals are scheduled to also attend the three-day conference in Tehran. Iranian news agencies have reported the expected participation of Alison Weir, the director of If Americans Knew and the Council for the National Interest, two grassroots anti-Israel organizations; Ken OKeefe, an anti-Semitic, anti-Zionist former U.S. Marine and a regular contributor to Press TV; Wayne Madsen, an anti-Semitic conspiracy theorist; Cyrus McGoldrick, the former Civil Rights Manager for the New York chapter of Council on American-Islamic Relations; Dieudonne Mbala Mbala, the French anti-Semitic comedian and the creator of the anti-Semitic quenelle gesture; and Mark Siljander, a former U.S. Representative (R-MI) who was found guilty in 2010 of two federal charges relating to his ties to an Islamic charity alleged to have funded terrorist groups.
